Hypoglycemia and Hyperglycemia
64Personal knowledge
Last week I went and had my physical. One that was long overdue. I found out a lot about myself. Some things that I can have some control over, others that will have long term actions by me to reverse. But one thing I found out is that I am Hypoglycemic.
So I thought I would share some symptoms of what Hypoglycemia is. Then I want to share what Hyperglycemia is and what the symptoms are as well. I think you'll be surprised. If any of these symptoms sound familiar, I suggest you go see your physician.
Hypoglycemia is caused from the body getting too little food, or producing too much insulin, or you're overexerting yourself. Here are the symptoms:
1. Shaking
2. Fast heartbeat
3. Sweating
4. Dizziness
5. Anxious
6. Hunger
7. Impaired vision
8. Weakness/Fatigue
9. Headache
10. Irritability
Now some of these may not be an onset of Hypoglycemia, but if these symptoms over exceed what you normally feel then you might get it checked out. There are times I have to eat an over abundance of sugar to maintain normaility in my body. I am not overweight, yet I have to eat a lot of sugar.
The reverse
Hyperglycemia is caused by too much food, too little insulin being produced by the body, or from illness or stress. It is the effect of too much sugar being in the blood stream, where Hypoglycemia is where there is too little sugar in the blood stream.
Here are some symptoms of having hyperglycemia:
1. Extreme thirst
2. Frequent urination
3. Dry skin
4. Hunger
5. Blurred vision
6. Drowsiness
7. Decreased Healing of the skin
8. Nausea
9. Rapid, deep breathing
10. Mental dullness
It's important to take care of your body. Now, both of these may lead to diabetes, which is a serious ailment. It could lead to loss of body extremities due to bad circulation, and CAN be controlled by diet and excercise. Unless you are diagnosed with diabetes, you may have to revert to insulin intakes. Your physician will let you know. So go get tested.

I appreciate this. My daughter was diagnosed with type 1 diabets, a 1 1/2 years ago and she is 9 now. She takes 3 to 4 shots a day and tests her sugar 4 to5 times depending on her reading. I also have t omake sure she always has a snack in her back pack when going to school. It had opened my eyes, again thanks.

No problem, I am a hypoglycemic person myself. I can understand the walk you and your daughter take, but on a more simpler path. Thank you for the comment.
